My Culprits

I have no one to dote on but my cats, so here are some recent pics them having an even lazier day than me. These are their usual spots. Spencer on his scratch post, and Ellie on Jordan's Mtn. Brook high school blanket. I just love sleeping kitties...Also, spencer loves cuddling, so this is him lovin up on jordan. Ellie's favorite thing to do is to lay underneath a blanket that is covering you, and spencer eats scraps off the floor and plays fetch like a dog. They are a bit special. Luckily, we broke them of the year long habit of waking us up at 4am to feed them, like they were newborns. How we did that? By feeding them once a day, and not four small meals a day, wow who knew.

In other cat news, my college kitty, and now Kimberly's cat, Blue, got bit by a snake a few days ago, and the vet had to sedate him to just find out what was wrong. Luckily it wasnt poisonous and they found it today and not a day later because she had a 105 degree fever and a very infected leg. If no one out there but Liv has met Blue, he is the most unique cats ever because of his sheer personality. Let's hope he recovers soon, and kimberly can deal with his sass while he does.

Lazy Sunday

                                                               (chez lulu)

After a delightful sunday brunch at Chez LuLu, Jordan and I commenced our lazy sunday rituals of laundry, tv, and internet video surfing. Here is our best find for the day:

In other news, Adrenaline III MMA just announced that heavyweight Tim Sylvia and boxer Roy Mercer are going to fight at the BJCC on June 13th. It's awesome that Bham is finally getting some professional MMA fights, but unfortunately Tim Sylvia is my absolute least favorite fighter in the entire sport. So, the initial excitement was short lived. Hopefully, some guys from our gym will get on that card and make the event worth attending. Actually we did have a guy make his professional debut this past Friday in Atlanta for King of the Cage, and won with an armbar, so congrats John Saulter! I wish we could have made it, but the event will be on pay-per-view in May. (in case anyone is interested)  For now I am going to chill and cherish the last few hours of weekend freedom.

Back to D-Town

For anyone who was worried, Jordan did return back to Bham all in one piece. However, while he was gone, I booked by get away for the year...back to IRELAND! I cant wait to finally get back after being gone for almost three years. I cant believe how time flies. I'll be gone for two weeks at the end of August to the beginning of Sept, and I really wish it was tomorrow. I am realizing how I need to cherish this time of my life, before children, and when, even though I work my ass off, I can still have extreme fun; and this is my idea of it. I have already planned the outline of the trip. Andrew and I are going to take a trip up to his hometown, and then up to Donegal, in the North. (Andrew, I know we haven't completely planned this, but consider it a rough draft!) Then, at some point, i'm going to reunite with my feminist girls in Dublin, and then head down to Cork and visit Gillian and her fam. I also need to catch up with the Rotary crowd in Dublin at some point and go out until the early morning drinking Guiness...just like old times...Man, i wish i was leaving tomorrow. Anyways, this gives me something to look forward to this year. Until then, it's same ole same ole...

Le Weekend de Jeri

Beginning last Thursday, while I was at a conference in Atlanta, my husband embarked on what can now be considered a journey, but at the time was just suppose to be a weekend trip. He was headed to Las Vegas for one of his best friend, Paul's, bachelor party. It also marked the beginning of me having what I call "Jeri time" all weekend. I dont get this time often, so I usually take advantage of it. No, I didnt go crazy and spend all weekend partying it up in the ham (that was the case in ATL though: another day another post), quite the opposite actually. I spent all day saturday deep cleaning the house, which is annoying, but so enjoyable once its done. I also spent some time with the fam, and had a chance to get a golf lesson from dad since it was gorgeous outside on sunday. However, my FAV thing to do was have some free to time cook. For me, cooking is theraputic. So, for a few hours sunday night I made muffins for my breakfast this week, a crab quiche for lunch this week, and a walnut cream sauce pasta for my dinner. I'm just so domestic...
Well, as i'm cooking, cleaning, and enjoying getting to watch my shows, I'm assuming my traveling husband is doing just that: traveling back home. Instead, due to a combination of an extremely delayed flight and an upset stomach, jordan gave up his seat on the overbooked plane. Also because of the delay, he was going to get into bham at about 3am, and of course I was going to be the sleepy zombie driving to get him. Well, he did this assuming he would just catch the next flight, but that would be too easy. Southwest informed him they couldnt get him out of Vegas until Tuesday morning. Yikes! Now, most of you that know my poker lovin husband would think that this was a deliberate scheme by him to stay in Vegas for as long as possible. But, from the sound of it, he is Vegas-ed out at this point, and more ready to get back home than ever. So, the weekend of Jeri has been extended, although I'm really ready to have my husband home. Luckily, we did get some southwest credit, so it may be the start of another adventure! Stay tuned!

East Bound & Baby

This past sunday I helped host a shower for my friend rebecca celebrating the impending birth of baby Raughley. It was great getting together with friends that are from out of town, and even those who are in bham that I dont see often enough. Bec got tons of cute stuff for the baby, now we just cant wait to meet him!

On another note, I have a new favorite show on HBO called East Bound & Down. This one is a winner, and not because it makes fun of southern people, but because most of the jokes are pretty true. Its also a bit crude, but what can you do? Plus, any show will Will Ferell making comeos is a winner to me. Check it out, here is the bio and a link to a clip:

(this one is relatively clean, but watch others at your own risk!)

"Relief Pitcher Kenny Powers was poised to rule the Big Leagues, but two things got in the way: his fading fastball and his insufferable personality. After a spectacular career flame-out, Kenny came home to Shelby County, NC and picked up a job as a substitute gym teacher (mostly so his brother Dustin would stop threatening to kick him out). He's spent every moment since then cashing in the last of his dying fame while plotting his inevitable comeback... one beer at a time.

'Eastbound & Down' is the latest project to come out of Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's comedic goldmine Gary Sanchez Productions, which also launched FunnyOrDie.com. Starring Danny McBride ('Pineapple Express'), Katy Mixon ('Four Christmases'), John Hawkes ('Deadwood') and a host of other talented comedians, 'Eastbound & Down' was created by McBride along with two friends from film school: Jody Hill and Ben Best. The hilarious new series was shot on location in North Carolina and also includes a few guest appearances by Ferrell as a local car dealer with marvelous hair.

A weekend away

Flora Bama!

This weekend Olivia and JD invited us down to Orange Beach, and its was a wonderfully relaxing trip. The boys played golf on saturday at while Liv and I hit the Foley outlets. I found some great deals on a few awesome suites, and we found tons of cute stuff for little David. Although he wont be here till August, she has got some adorable stuff waiting for him to wear! We also spent a little time on the beach, but it wasn't really hot enough to lay out on this trip. Now, back to the grind...

Bird's eye View

I posted some pictures a few weeks ago from my trip to Boca and the amazing bald eagles nest that was across the street from the Wise's house. Well, those pics were so amateur compared to these amazing pictures taken by Chase's uncle Dan. These are so real and kind of scary. I didnt know how intense these birds are up close. The black one is actually the baby bald eagle. Who knew they were black? They all look fake to me. Anyways, I thought these were too cool not to share. Enjoy!

An early celebration

Although our second wedding anniversary isnt for another two weeks, Jordan surprised me with an early present. Mostly because he cant hold on to gifts for more than a day. I dont know what the proper second anniversary present is, maybe cotton, who knows, but i'm ok with silver! He also had the roman numeral II engraved on the top for year number two. How sweet. I cant believe that two years has gone by already. Looks like I need to start getting by gift into gear...

Welcome to March

Much to the surprise of many Alabamians this morning, the meteorologist were actually right this time, and we did indeed get our snow. This pic is after some melting, so it was a nice little snow covering. I tried to get the kitties to play in it, but they werent having anything to do with the white cold stuff. We went over to my parents for my dad's birhday lunch and every other house in their neighborhood had snowmen which was fun to see because it has been some time since we have seen accumulation of just a few inches. Other than the snowfall it was an uneventful weekend with much lounging, although i did work all day saturday. Let's hope for a productive week!
