Ladies Who Golf

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Bham CC Ladies Member Guest tourny. Luckily, the weather held up (despite a few spitting sprinkles) and we were able to finish the round. I haven't played since early fall, so i was a bit nervous to say the least. Luckily, the lovely ladies I was with were quite forgiving, and just wanted to have a good time. I played fairly decent for such a break in my game. The theme was "Royal Rehearsal Dinner" so we all wore hats.

me, jackie, kim and brenda

At the pre party the night before, I got the informal Katie Middleton look alike award. I think because I have brown hair and was the youngest there by 20 years, but i was flattered nonetheless.

We played the east course, and it was gorgeous. I wanted to just uproot all the oak lead hydrangeas they have all around and take them to my yard.

I have pictures because I finally got my camera from my parents house. I found two old puppy pics from earlier this year.

This is funny because the dynamics are now quite the other way around. Mia constantly shows dominace by trying to eat Mac.

Mac says "sup"

I'll get some updated puppy pics tonight. Now, onto brave the second tornado threat of the day. April showers bring may flowers yall.

Portable Office

Im sitting in Starbuck amoungst about 40 other people with phones ringing, coffee orders shouting, and keyboards clicking. The entire 280 corridor is without power,  including my office, and this looks to be the makeshift workspace for most of greystone, because if they are like me, we are powerless at the house. Im being surprisingly productive (until i got on here) admist the noise and distractions. Another storm is coming through in a few hours, so it looks like we will be without power for quite a while. Unfortunately, that leaves me with nothing to do but clean and organize, so i'll be doing that the rest of the day, unless they will let me live here..... Starbucks: home sweet home.

The Royal Opera

After an epic weekend in NYC (to be discussed later), I flew back to Bham, only to be picked up by my bud Fergus and wisked away to the ATL. Exhausted, and existing on only half a Cliff Bar and some GA lotto tickets, we found the Gwinnett Center and all the fantastic characters that come with. Ive been excited about this show for years, and all that repressed Gaga love came out in an amazing display of dancing, screaming and general gaga love. To say the show was A-mazing is quite an understatement. Im not quite sure of the entire setlist (i lost track in all the madness and cant find it yet on the internet) but my favorite 4 songs went a bit like this:

-Paino solo, Born this Way
-Meshed with Paino solo, You and I (on the new album)
-Monster
-Teeth

Of course we ended with some Bad Romance and Born this way (entire cast). She left me without Speechless, but it was quite alright. I was never one of those preteens that loved NCOTB or NYSYC (why were all those boy band names abbreviated?), but i can honestly say, i saved all that teen obsession for Gaga. A large part of me wanted to drive to Nashville last night to see her again. A larger part of me wants to be a gaga roadie. Unfortunately for me, this tour is bout over. I will, however, be tuning in to HBO on May 7th for the Madison Square Gardens fun.  (8 central, i might have a party)

We rolled back into Bham at 2am exhausted, and with our ears still buzzing from the rock opera that was Lady gaga. Unfortunately, I didnt take any pictures bc my phone sucks, and it was going dead. But, I know that it will be highly difficult for anyone to top this diva in my mind. And for those that havnt downloaded Judas, you must. Now. Also, Born this Way drops May 23rd. fyi.

Meet my Family

For the past year I have attempted to collect "research" for a special blog post on a subject particularly interesting me to. I recently realized that if I was going to abide by traffic laws and not endanger myself or others, then I was never going to get all the pics i needed to write a post about these:

The family car sticker people.

One question:
why?

I'm not only highly annoyed by these, im completely frusterated by their existence. For one, im of the mindset that one should never "stick" their car. I like to keep mine clean and sleek. They are simply distractions. Bumper stickers are funny, but i'd rather not deal with ruining my paint job. Then, there are number stickers detailing the distances you can run (13.1, 26.2) Great, my car can out run you. Then you have sports stickers reflecting your fav team. I dont need to give an Auburn fan one more reason to be pissed when they think i've cut them off (clearly I dont do that).

But, if you must, why stick people families? I see it as parents making it clear to possible creeps that "Yes, I drive a Chrystler Mini Van! These are indeed my children! Follow me home, see where I live! Stalk my family!"

Then you have those that go a step further and add the pets to the mix. "Fido: if found, return to the blue Honda Pilot you see everyday as you pass Elm Street" Do these people think their family is really that special? Apparently. You know the people have problems just like the rest of us, but at least their car reflects the perfect family, right? What about more non traditional families? I have seen "Two mommies stickers" (on the internet, not in the Bama) but I also found this gem:

This is more than two mommies. This is "Daddy has two wives." Polygomist stickers! Now, the gal on the far right could be the daughter. But then we have "Perfecet family, (besides out sluttey daughter) sticker." It's possible. Not as likely to be displayed publically, but at least their being honest, right?

I wish more soccer moms or football dads would have the guts to tell us the truth. I wish just once I could stare at this back window as I wait for the light to turn:

That's what im talking about!

But, let's take it a step further. Kara this one's for you:

If we are going to have to deal with these stickers long term, please people, make them interesting for the rest of us.

Odd? Yes. Would a creep follow you home? No.

People, i beg of you. Please stop sticking stick figures of yourself and your family all over your ride. Spare us the "perfect family" routine, spare your car, and spare my sanity.

West Palm Beach-Part III

Where did this trip go? I blink, it's over. Lucky for me, Cristin and pals know how to say bon voyage with brunch. We had the most random assortment of amazing food, drinks and company. Before we brunch, lets back up. In the midst of the night before, I managed to see the Tide again, this time, in the form of a tatoo.

So special.

Ok, back to brunch.

We had homemade crepes with nutella, suasage links, goat cheese and strawberry salad, buttermilk waffles, egg casserole, croissants, and pineappe coconut cake. Best hangover curing brunch ever.

Other acceptable cures:

 pool lounging

sun whitening

muddling with Jeff

the perfect mojito
and beer brewing.

even muggs was all smiles on this sunday funday.

Cristin, you were a hell of a host, even if we did act like we were 22 again. Jess, you get the best roomate ever award. Im so glad cristin has you to keep her out of the pool and in the lab (most days). This is def going to be an annual trip!

West Palm Beach- Part II

Today we hit the beach. After a long winter, it was a gorgeous site.

Although hard to see here because my bb photos are still terribly small. Still no idea how to fix that. The weather was rediculously beautiful, and I of course got too much sun, as I usually do after a prolonged absence. After a few hours of sunning, we shifted gears and headed to dinner/shoppings/drinks/more drinks/dancing.
We went to several places in West Palm, so im not going to attempt to recount. I think it should be noted that at some point during our dancing the DJ played "Come on ride the Train." Major middle school flashback. I also had a twenty year old girl in the bathroom line tell me I "looked good" for twenty eight. (Also note: she was 5 when the Quad City DJ's gave us that gem) It's never good to have the realization of your increasing age brought to your attention at a bar. Luckily, I really dont care, so the dancing continued. Unfortuately, we didnt get any Brit or Gaga, but it was still fun as hell.
Today we sunday brunch and lay poolside. pics to follow.

West Palm Beach- Part I

About a month ago, I sent Cristin a text that involved a plan to come see her. Naturally, she was all about a good scheme, so we moved forward with operation "Jeris goes to Florida." I knew I had to head up to NYC, so instead of flying back to Bham, I had them divert me to see her. Brilliant. So far, the scheme has gone just as planned. Im here in sunny florida, looking at Palm trees, when 24 hours earlier, i was watching rainy snow fall on the streets on nyc. Also, I keep saying im in WPB, but we are actually in Jupiter, FL. Details. Regardless, we did go to wpb last night for some beer. worlds of beer. Im loving her friends down here, they are fun and highly entertaining. I defer the rest of this post to Cristin as she has pictures and a more acturate description of the evening. Now, we head to the beach.
