J is back, back again.

Last week was my first week back at the office after three and a half months with the little men. I was sad to leave them but excited to reclaim my life. It was like I never left, jumping back into the swing of things. I try and arrive really early so I can leave early to pick them up. We are still having some long nights with them getting up, so that makes the next day pretty miserable. But, if we take it one day at time, we usually survive in one piece. The real hero of the past week has been J who is so good when he has them, i just have to brag. Most dinners have been made by him so when i get home i take over with the boys and the rest is taken care of. They even made a trip to my office to see me which made my week. The boys are lucky to have such a great daddy. Although he wont be in the caregiver role long, (we are interviewing nannies right now) I know the boys love spending their time a few days a week with him.

I, on the other hand, even managed to make it downtown to my first Rotaract meeting in who knows how long. Ac roper, bhams Chief of police spoke, and as with any rotaract event, it was highly interesting. Can't wait to get back involved.

So, now I am in week 2 of back to work and with only one emotional fall apart, I'm full speed ahead. Post about the boy's first paddy's day coming soon.

Pre-anniversary dinner

Tonight we are headed to hot n hot to celebrate our five year anniversary. Its technically on march 17th but since we will be at Avett brothers that night we are eating tonight. On our honeymoon to napa and Sonoma we bought several bottles to drink on different occasions. Our five year bottle is a 2002 Kenwood artist series Cabernet Sauvignon. Their tasting room is a huge barn in Sonoma and the whole winery is vey laid back. It almost feels like you are hanging out with a bunch a hippies that make amazing wine. It is called an Artist series bottle because each year's label display a painting by a different artist. 2002 was kenjilo Nanao, an abstract expressionism artist from the San Fran area. This painting is called White Waves. Pretty cool.

Cheers to another five years (and the 2005 Silver Oak waiting for us when we get there!)

Chili cookoff

Last weekend I mustered up the courage to take both boys with me to the Exceptional Foundation's chili cookoff in homewood. Luckily I have amazing friends who helped me out, otherwise I might have lost it. Kara, Meghan, Laura and suelin, y'all are awesome, and so are your men. In return for everyone being so great, my stroller was used as the official beer and chili holder. I think it worked well i wasnt that impressed with the chili to be honest, (I did love the fact that y'all had goldfish Beers) but it was fun nonetheless. I think everyone I know in bham was in attendance, so it was also good to see people after being holed in my house for the better part of three months That night I was more exhausted than I've been in a long time but it was worth it.

Monday Funday

On Monday I return to the office. After three and a half months with these two, it's back to the grind. Lucky for me, I have an amazing business partner who has picked up theslack in my absence. We are calling Monday-Monday Funday in an effort to make going back a little easier. I will no doubt miss these two during the week, but a part of me needs to be back working to feel complete again. My whole life I've known I wanted I be a working mom, and I'm glad to know that with the choice upon me, I still feel the same. However, there are many things I will miss. Let's start a list, shall we?
1) I love it when one of the boys wakes up earlier than the other in the morning and we get a chance to snuggle before its time for breakfast. This seems to alternate daily, so I get special time with both boys.

2) lounging in my pj's and slippers all day. Although I can't wait to jump back into my heels, it's been quite comfy the past few months

3) watching Ellen. We look forward to 4:00 each day.

4) Seeing J during the day when he works from home. His schedule has worked out so well to help me when I need it and to spend time with us.

5) baby giggles. Absolutely the best sound ever.

I'm so lucky to have my family watching the boys when I go back, so I know they are in the best hands. I will miss you guys.
