Party Time!

Last weekend Jordan and I attended Brook and Paul's engagement party at Vulcan park. It had been a while since we got out and had some fun with friends we havent seen in a while. Kara and I brought it old school with some DJ dancing and wine drinkin. I felt kinda like i was back at the ole sigma chi house. (Reba and jenny were off the hook bc of the baby and the shoulder injury, but will both be returning to the scene soon!)

Now its the end of another long week, and i'm pleased with how it went. Each day was productive, interesting, and I feel like we are really building the foundation to what will be an unstoppable practice in the very near future. In addition this week, I went to my Roteract New Member Oritentation. If you dont know me, Rotary is one organization that I cant get enough of. I am truly indebted to civic group for allowing me to go to Ireland, not to mention that it's a group that does amazing work around the globe. More on Roteract later.

On another side note, one of my best friends Olivia is having a baby boy! I cant wait to meet little David in August! Congrats Liv!

A daily question

If this popped up on my computer on a daily basis, there hasn't been a day in the last two weeks (or months) when I wouldn't click that little blue 'yes' button and then hope that a very strong margarita would appear out of nowhere. I said I wasn't going to talk about work, so let's just leave it at that.

Im here, but my mind's in Boca

I wanted to post some more pics from the beach because it was such a fun trip, and for some reason the blogger will only let me post five pics at a time. If anyone knows a way around that, suggestions are welcomed.
Ive actually had a very productive and positive week despite the fact that usually when I come back from time away from work its hard to get back into the swing of things. Other than that, the most exciting thing ive done all week is get a new shower curtain for my guest bathroom...It's the little things, right? Oh, my cousin and her husband have a new blog, check it out!

Also, a shout out to Tracy and TJ for the birth of baby Avery! Congrats!

The Stress Free Island

I was very blessed last weekend to be invited down to Boca Grande, FL with one of my friends Becca and her husband Chase. The men were playing in a golf tournament, so we relaxed and enjoyed the warm Florida weather. Along the way, I got some great pics of the beach, shells, a mullet toss, and the coolest and only bald eagles ive ever seen. It was a great weekend of relaxation which i desperatly needed. Enjoy!

I just love this one. It is so serene.

My artsy shell pics.

The beach at sunset with Bryant the coondog resting in the sand.

The bald eagle couple. Apparently they mate for life...There was a baby in the nest too. It would poke its head up every now and then.

Rebecca at the mullet toss scoring some points for team wise!

Kitty Cam!

Many of you might remember my recent obsession over the Shiba Inu puppy cam:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/shiba-inu-puppy-cam

Well, those pups are grown and gone, but, there is a new "cam" in town, and i'm pretty excited about it! Allow me to introduce you to my new fav kitties:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kitty-cam-2

Thanks to Jensi's boredom at work, I now have a new distraction on my computer. This is a humane society out of LA that is doing this in an effort to find homes for their animals, which is such a great idea! Its actually prob a good thing these little babies are in LA or I would be adopting them asap. Ive already asked jordan several days in a row for kitty #3, but he's being quite steadfast in his "no", which is prob a good thing. Speaking of kitties, here are some pics of my crazies.
This is our morning routine. While I get ready, spenc and ellie sit on the windowsill and watch the birds. This pic is a bit old b/c spence is about 10 lbs heavier now...

This is a very old pic, but I love my sleeping kitties :)

Much more recent pic of my little ones (or not so little ones). Ellie always crosses her arms like the lady she is, and spence loves to be the center of attention. I think they need a brother or sister to join the crew..kitty or otherwise... :)

March of Jeris the Penguin

I ended up getting off my butt yesterday afternoon after getting a text from the girl in my muay thai class. Our gym holds a strength and conditioning session each sunday at mtn brook high school, and since her and her husband were going, i figured id get myself in gear. Well...I kinda wish i had stayed put b/c I can barly walk, much less waddle at the moment. He had us doing so many lundges, stadiums, and repeat 100's, it was unreal. But, i need it. So, I must deal with a day of waddling around my office getting odd looks from the guys.

UFC 94

Last night we went over to Cristin and Sean's to watch UFC 94, specifically the matchup between BJ Penn (top) and George St. Pierre (bottom). This is def one of the most anticipated mixed martial arts fights in a very long time. BJ is considered a prodigy and GSP has a statuesque body with amazing endurance. I know many of you wonder how and why I get into this sport which seems like a brutal testoterone fest. However, when you know about the types of marital arts and training that is involved, this is not the 80's WWE wrestling, and it is def not fake. What is wonderful
about mma is that these guys arn't
trying to kill each other. It is a show of skill and sportsmanship. I guess I appreciate the skill and development that goes into this sport, especially now that I am trying to train in muay thai. It's not easy, and it is one of the most physically exhasuting exercises I have ever attemped. (It is giving preseason soccer a run for its money).

Well, the fight was a bit of a let down considering the mass buildup. BJ obviously was not ready to take on the master that is GSP. He looked slow, out of shape, and didnt seem like he wanted to be there. This was most eveident by him throwing in the towel right before the last round. He talked to much smack about quitting before the fight that it is quite ironic that he did just that. Fighting is such a headgame, that although he is a brilliant fighter, I wouldnt be surprised if we dont see him for a while. I would be embarrassed too if I were him.

So, enough about fighting. I have been so lazy all weekend, and really dont nothing but eat and sleep, and watch TV. Sometimes you just need a disturbingly lazy weekend. Jordan surprised me this morning with take out cracker barrel for breakfast, and I could really get use to that! So I am going to enjoy the rest of the Super Bowl sunday not doing much of anything. :)
