Finally, after what seemed like a year, but was really more like a week, our laptop is back in action. One new hard drive later, and our year old laptop, is once again, like new. Except for the fact that the backlight is now going on and off as i'm typing. That might have something to do with the fact that Jordan didnt want to wait for the dell guy to come install the hard drive, but instead, do it himself. Why do guys think they can fix everything? They cant. No one is an functional expert in everything. Although he seemed to have done it correctly, who knows? The light thing is now getting annoying.
In my blogging absence fun things have happened. Last weekend was a girls trip to reba's lake house, and the running of my 5k! The lake was great, the 5k was not as fun, but I did it. It was the first 5k ive ran since cross country in high school. College soccer doesnt count because the longest we ever ran constantly was really 2 miles. It was more quick start and stopping. My first mile was under 10 minutes (great for me at this stage in my return to running). The next two I averaged 10 minutes per. Results:
20 Jeris Burns 287 30:25I CAME IN 20th!!! (out of 46!) (in the 25-29 age group) Normal competitive people would be upset by this, but honestly, i'm glad I didnt finish last. Plus the girl in front of me only beat me by 1 second. I could have broken the top 20 in my age group easy, but maybe next time. The #287 was my overall score out of around 500 people. How awesome is that? What is not awesome is that in the rankings, a 61 year old woman beat me by 2 minutes. We arnt going to talk about that...
The next 5k (yes, there will be more) is August 15th at Greystone. My goal: to beat my time...and maybe all women in their 60's.
